Corporate Financial Controller

Vacature opslaan

Westlake Epoxy is a global leader in the production of thermosetting epoxy resins, serving industries such as wind energy, automotive, transportation, coatings, and composites.

Your department/ team

The Corporate Financial Controller at Westlake Epoxy is ultimately responsible for the financial reporting and financial control of multiple French entities in accordance with US GAAP and local GAAP. These are the so-called “Westlake France entities,” referring to the French Holding, Operating, and Research entities within Westlake.

As the financial controller for the “Westlake France entities,” you hold end-responsibility for all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings according to US GAAP, as well as for statutory reporting in accordance with local (French) GAAP. You report directly to the Corporate Finance Manager, based in Rotterdam. A solid understanding of all business processes is key to evaluating the accuracy of the balance sheet. Maintaining contact with various stakeholders within corporate, manufacturing, and business functions (tax, legal, and HR departments) is essential to stay informed about company developments — acting as a “spider in the web.” You are a key contact person for many, supporting interdisciplinary processes.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Responsible for the administration of three entities (Holding, Manufacturing, and R&D)
  • Preparation of statutory annual accounts, independently or in a supporting role, depending on the entity, and act as the first point of contact with Local Auditors
  • Submission of quarterly tax packages
  • Calculation of current and deferred CIT tax positions
  • Conversion of US GAAP figures to local statutory GAAP (Plan Comptable Général)
  • Ensuring compliance with local accounting rules and laws
  • Cooperation with (external) tax consultants; preparation of various tax returns and annual tax accounts
  • Setting up and maintaining documentation: tax, legal, audit, account reconciliations
  • Proposing improvements to financial processes
  • Ad hoc participation in international accounting-related projects (tax and/or restructuring)

Your knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of French GAAP
  • Experience with period closings (monthly, quarterly, annual)
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Experience with external reporting
  • Solid foundation in financial administration
  • Knowledge of and affinity with taxation (especially corporate tax)
  • Experience with financial systems, particularly S4Hana (SAP) and Blackline
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting policies
  • Experience with tax calculations and up-to-date knowledge of French CIT regulations and legislation
  • Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Audit
  • Audit experience at a (preferably Big 4) audit firm
  • 3–6 years of experience in finance, preferably in the chemical industry
  • Experience with US GAAP and French GAAP
  • Proficiency in SAP and Excel
  • Strong communication skills in French and English
  • A team player who is proactive and result-oriented
  • Able to monitor and manage multiple processes simultaneously
  • Language skills: fluency in French and English is required; knowledge of additional European languages is a plus

Your competencies and unique talents

  • Strong communication skills – able to convey complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders
  • Team player – collaborates effectively across departments and cultures
  • Proactive mindset – anticipates issues and takes initiative to solve them
  • Result-oriented – focuses on delivering accurate and timely outcomes
  • Stress-resistant – performs well under pressure, especially during closing periods
  • Organizational talent – manages multiple processes and deadlines simultaneously
  • Stakeholder-focused – builds trust and maintains strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Problem-solving ability – identifies root causes and proposes practical solutions
  • Integrity and discretion – handles sensitive financial and legal information responsibly
  • Adaptability – comfortable working in a dynamic, international environment
