Financial Controller

About the Role Robert Walters is currently supporting an international bank with offices in Amsterdam in the search for a Financial Controller to strengthen its Finance function. This role offers a broad and hands-on scope across financial reporting, control, and process optimization. You will ensure the integrity of financial data, drive improvements in reporting quality and efficiency, and provide management with clear financial insights to support sound business decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and internal reporting standards

• Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities

• Support internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to financial and regulatory requirements

• Identify and implement process improvements across the finance function, including automation and enhanced control measures

• Deliver data-driven insights and performance analyses to senior management

• Partner closely with departments such as Risk, Operations, and Treasury to provide financial support and analysis

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field

• Around 5 years of experience as a Financial Controller or similar, within banking or financial services

• Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting and internal control frameworks

• Experienced with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Exact, Power BI)

• Excellent Excel and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong communication skills, able to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders

• Proactive, reliable, and hands-on mindset with a high sense of accountability

• Fluent in English; proximity to the Amsterdam office is preferred to foster collaboration and engagement within the broader office culture.
