Finance Data Specialist – Management Reporting

Robert Walters is recruiting for a Finance Data Specialist (Management Reporting) for an international bank in Amsterdam. Sitting within the Finance function, this role combines strong SQL and data analytics capabilities with solid finance and banking experience, focusing on delivering high-quality management information to senior stakeholders. You will translate complex financial and operational data into clear insights and dashboards, work closely with Finance, Risk, IT and the business, and play a key role in improving reporting quality, efficiency and data reliability.

Our client is an international bank operating in a dynamic and regulated environment. The Management Reporting team is part of the Finance function and plays a key role in supporting senior management with timely, accurate and insightful management information.

The team is responsible for translating complex financial and operational data into clear, reliable and value-adding reports that support strategic decision-making, performance monitoring and transparency.

Your role

As a Finance Data Specialist (Management Reporting), you will be responsible for the preparation, analysis and development of management reports and dashboards that provide meaningful insights into the bank’s financial and operational performance.

You will independently manage reporting processes, contribute to budgeting and forecasting cycles, and ensure that data is structured, reliable and fit for purpose. Acting as a key link between Finance, Business and IT, you will proactively identify trends, explain variances and continuously improve reporting quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver periodic and ad-hoc management reports for senior management and relevant committees

• Support Regulatory Reporting and Financial Planning teams by structuring and automating reporting processes

• Analyse financial results and explain key drivers and variances

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Design, develop and maintain dashboards using Power BI or similar BI tools

• Structure, transform and model data for reporting and dashboarding purposes

• Ensure data accuracy, consistency and reconciliation across systems and reporting sources

• Write, optimise and maintain MS SQL queries and scripts to extract, transform and analyse data

• Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements and reporting standardisation

• Collaborate closely with Finance, Risk, IT and Business stakeholders

• Respond to senior management requests with clear, well-structured analyses and presentations

Skills & qualifications

• Minimum 6–7 years of relevant experience in management reporting, financial controlling, FP&A or similar analytical roles

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, challenge and clearly explain financial and management information

• Proven experience in preparing reports and analyses for senior management

• High level of accuracy, structure and attention to detail

• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple deliverables

Technical & data skills

• Strong MS SQL skills, including writing, optimising and maintaining SQL code

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access

• Strong experience with Power BI or similar BI / dashboarding tools, including:

  • End-to-end dashboard development

  • Structuring, transforming and modelling data for reporting and visualisation

  • Ownership of underlying data logic, beyond visual design

• Experience with data automation, reporting optimisation and data quality improvement is a strong plus
