HR Payroll Officer
Are you a precise HR Payroll Officer, with strong data skills, payroll knowledge and administrative expertise? We're looking for an HR Specialist 32 – 40 hours in Amsterdam for a hybrid role supporting core HR operations.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
As an HR Payroll Officer, you are responsible for the full end-to-end monthly payroll process for the Netherlands, while also supporting payroll activities in Belgium and the United Kingdom. You ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and act as the subject matter expert for colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders. Thanks to your knowledge of Dutch legislation and regulations, you are able to run payroll independently with minimal supervision.
You will work closely with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Mobility to streamline processes and continuously improve the employee experience.
Payroll (core of the role)
You independently manage the full monthly payroll process, including coordination with external payroll providers. This includes processing all employee lifecycle changes such as onboarding, internal movements, offboarding, contract changes, and maintaining master data. You are also responsible for salary increases, promotions, corrections, back pay, and final settlements. In addition, you manage all types of leave with payroll impact, such as sick leave and parental leave, and ensure accurate processing of bonuses, variable compensation, and allowances, including correct tax treatment. You review net payment files, ensure proper authorization controls and segregation of duties, and manage processes related to the 30% ruling. You also perform monthly reconciliations between payroll outputs and HR system data and support international payroll runs when needed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Payroll processing: review payslips, handle mutations and manage payments;
- Maintain HR data in systems like AFAS or similar, including updates and archiving;
- Draft, extend and terminate employment contracts;
- Manage absence tracking, sick leave reporting and reintegration files;
- Provide administrative support for recruitment, onboarding and offboarding;
- Prepare annual statements, pension filings and ensure regulatory compliance;
- Create management reports and dashboards for HR and leadership.
WHAT WE REQUIERE
- Mbo+/HBO level education, preferably in HR, Payroll & Administration;
- Advanced skills in numbers, data analysis and Excel; familiar with HRIS;
- Detail-oriented, discreet and service-driven;
- Strong communication skills; knowledge of Dutch employment law a plus;
- Independent worker with team spirit;
- English fluency is a must, while Dutch is a nice to have.

- Hybrid model: 3 days remote, 2 days in Amsterdam office;
- Salary up to €4,500 gross per month based on 40 hours;
