Finance & Control Manager

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Ensure an optimal organizational structure within the finance department, including the implementation of systems that drive efficiency.
• Optimize various financial processes and deliver analyses to support management, such as weekly and monthly performance reports versus budget, insights into average debtor payment terms, and root cause analyses of underperforming projects or assignments.
• Maintain and manage relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
• Ultimately responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the financial administration.
• Accountable for all financial reporting and controlling activities. Offer daily leadership and strategic guidance aligned with the company’s mission and values, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete reporting to both Group and local management.
• Co-responsible for driving the company to meet or exceed revenue, profitability, and cash flow targets, including daily cash position management in coordination with the Group Treasurer.
• Establish and monitor internal and external processes and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with growth strategies.
• Ensure the company has the necessary operational controls, administrative procedures, and reporting systems in place to meet both financial and operational goals. Contribute input to the Group for consolidated financial statements.
• Monitor the status of trade receivables, identify irregularities or overdue items, and proactively engage with Account Managers to ensure prompt collections.
• Evaluate the financial soundness and reliability of business partners.
• Maintain open lines of communication with the CFO and General Manager, keeping them informed of any critical financial or operational issues.
• Collaborate with auditors to ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations.

• Provide leadership and oversight to the finance team, ensuring effective coordination and development of accountants and financial support staff.

Your knowledge and experience

• Degree in Finance or Economics at Bachelor or Master level
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in controlling & financial management
• Core strengths: clear communicator, collaborative mindset, initiative-taker, precise, and adaptable
• Background in a mid-sized Dutch organization, preferably within the port or logistics industry
• Proficient in both Dutch and English, verbally and in writing
• Thorough understanding of Dutch VAT and relevant financial legislation
• Pragmatic and hands-on approach with a strong drive to take responsibility
