Senior Financial Controller

Your department/ team

In this key role, you are, together with your team, responsible for the accurate, complete, and timely execution of the general ledger administration and month-end closings for multiple (international) entities (approx. 90) within Samskip. You prepare KPI reports for the business units and perform sharp analyses of deviations and trends to enable timely adjustments. In addition, you make an active and initiating contribution to the structural improvement and standardization of financial processes and reporting within the organization.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Leading month, quarter, and year-end closings, with accuracy and timeliness for multiple entities;
• Consolidating financial statements of international entities in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards;
• Acting as an accounting point of contact and providing advice to the finance team;
• Collaborating with auditors and guiding annual reporting processes to ensure compliance with laws and regulations;
• Analyzing financial trends, deviations, and KPIs and providing concrete recommendations to management;
• Identifying opportunities to optimize processes, standardize reports, and implement best practices;
• Preparing detailed internal and external reports, including management reports and statutory documents;
• Managing accruals, provisions, and other balance sheet accounts with proper governance and accuracy.

Your knowledge and experience

The ideal candidate is a senior finance professional with strong analytical, technical, and leadership skills. You work with integrity, have an eye for detail, and can oversee complex international accounting and consolidation processes. You see opportunities to improve processes and ensure successful implementation within the finance team. You have:

• A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Business Economics;
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a senior controlling or consolidation role;
• Extensive experience with multi-entity consolidation, accounting standards (IFRS/local GAAP), and financial reporting;
• Experience as an accounting point of contact within a finance department;
• Experience with auditor relations and guiding annual reports;
• Advanced Excel and ERP skills (preferably SAP FICO);
• Experience in the logistics, shipping, or transport sector is a plus;
• Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
