Your department/ team

To expand the Finance Department in Rotterdam, the organisation is seeking to employ a Financial Controller (1 FTE). As a valued member of the Finance team, the new colleague will play a key role in transforming data into meaningful insights and guiding financial strategy. Close collaboration with the Finance Director ensures a significant contribution to informed, data‑driven decision‑making. The role requires a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset supported by strong analytical and financial capabilities.

Your tasks and responsibilities

As Financial Controller, the primary areas of focus will be:

• Performing monthly and year‑end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal reporting requirements.
• Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial closings.
• Assisting the accounting team in preparing statutory audit deliverables and supporting documentation.
• Providing insightful analyses and ad hoc reports to support senior management in strategic decision‑making.
• Maintaining and strengthening internal controls to ensure compliance and minimise financial risk.
• Driving automation initiatives and enhancing reporting by transforming complex data into clear visualisations and actionable insights.
• Defining and monitoring key performance indicators, comparing company performance against industry benchmarks.
• Supporting the development of sustainability reporting, ensuring alignment between financial, operational, and environmental data.

Your knowledge and experience

• A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus on accounting or finance.
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience in business control or financial control.
• A strong analytical mindset, with the ability to process large volumes of information and draw accurate conclusions.
