About the Role:
Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager for their South-East Cluster Finance organization in Europe. Based in Vienna, Austria, this role is pivotal in managing financial administration, tax compliance, period-close, and financial reporting across multiple countries in the region. Reporting directly to the Head of Accounts EU, based in Amsterdam, you will act as a key liaison between country finance teams and central finance operations.

Ideally, we are seeking a candidate who is already based in Vienna. However, if you meet all the outlined qualifications and requirements, our client is open to providing relocation support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Period Close: Ensure timely and accurate month-end accruals, GL reviews, and close activities per group timelines.
  • Financial Accounting: Oversee daily financial administration, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Account Reconciliation: Conduct regular GL, vendor, and customer reconciliations, along with ageing analysis to maintain accounting hygiene.
  • Treasury Operations: Manage vendor payments, customer collections, bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and bank relationship management.
  • Payroll Administration: Supervise payroll processes and accounting for foreign subsidiaries with support from external or in-house service providers.
  • Audit Support: Drive timely closure of external audits, finalization of statutory financial statements, and adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee VAT reconciliations, corporate income tax filings, and transfer pricing compliance for entities in the cluster.
  • Shared Services Coordination: Collaborate with the group’s offshore Global Business Services team on AR, AP, and period-end tasks.
  • Financial Discipline: Implement and reinforce the group’s Delegation of Financial Authority guidelines across legal entities.
  • People management: Within this role you will have 2 direct reports, where one is based in Viena, and the other one is in Budapest.

Ideal Candidate:

  • University degree in Accounting (registered accountant certification is a plus).
  • 5-6 years of work experience in an accounting role.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of Austrian and Hungarian accounting standards and practices.
  • Proficient in financial/internal controls, taxation compliance, and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • International mindset with the ability to work across diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong team player capable of collaborating with multiple departments.
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills, with the ability to summarize key topics concisely.
  • Fluent in English and German (Hungarian is a plus).
