Operations Controller

The role as a Operations Controller:

In this role you will be part of a strong Business Control team with your main focus on the factory in Bodegraven and will report to the Manager Business Control.

Tasks and responsiblities:

• Accurate and timely performance reporting and analyses regarding the factory, this includes analyzing monthly performance reports, preparing forecasts and budgets, constructively challenging plant management in their decision-taking, preparing business cases and participate in (or lead) projects which will deliver business results;
• Ensure internal controls in the factory are understood, embedded and followed by the manufacturing and logistics teams. Examples of such controls are inventory and asset counts, accurate and timely process order closing;
• You will conduct factory performance deep dives, constructively challenge plant managers and their team members to improve factory performance. See and understand trends in the operations in ‘your’ factories, determine required follow up / mitigating actions and priorities;
• As member of the factory management team, you will demonstrate cross functional collaboration by participation in project teams and by showing ownership, you will identify and act on improvement opportunities;
• Deliverables for the role are to drive profitability in the business by improving factory performance (on financial and non-financial KPI’s), managing capital expenditure, including budgeting and forecasting';
• This role has a high level of independence while being part of a team. Improving business and financial reporting processes is part of the role, sharing knowledge and best practices is expected to come natural to the preferred candidate;

The role as a Operations Controller:

You will use your experience as a business partner to take a leading role, convincing colleagues will be needed while embedding solid processes and procedures, ensuring internal controls are in place. You are expected to have a quick understanding of when matters need to be escalated versus when to solve yourself. You act as the linking pin between the plant management and the (centralized) finance department.

You will demonstrate the right behavior by seeking and offering collaboration and creating a culture of cost awareness and ownership. As a business partner, you are expected to constructively challenge (senior) managers from other departments regarding performance in their areas of responsibility.

Who are you?

• At least a Bachelor/Master in in Finance
• At least 3+ years relevant working experience in operations controlling, with a strong preference for experience in an international manufacturing/FMCG environment;
• Drive for finding root causes for (financial) performance trends and defining actions;
• Comfortable participating in cross functional projects;
• Ability to switch between day-to-day operations and longer term strategy;
• Experience working with SAP and associated business intelligence systems;
• A collaborative approach and feel comfortable in a rapidly changing environment, where you can also be the driver of change;
• Understanding of business intelligence and reporting systems (experience in Qlikview or Cognos is a plus) and SAP is a strong plus;
