Your team

Kuehne+Nagel consists of four divisions: Contract Logistics, Road Logistics, Air Logistics and Sea Logistics. This vacancy is within Air Logistics. Here we offer services covering all aspects of logistics planning, control and execution, from place of origin to end user by air. You function as a business partner for various units. This means that you regularly meet with the managers of the units and their teams to discuss how the unit is doing and what the expectations are. The team you will be working in, consists of various financial and business controllers, who are spread across the country. In this position, you are expected to be present at other locations on a regular basis. Air logistics has Schiphol as their main operating base.

Your Role

As a Business Controller you are the linking pin between the operation or the business itself and the finance department. Your analysis helps us to improve our results on a strategic-tactical level as well as in daily business. There is plenty of room for your progressive insights and ideas.

Tasks and responsibilities

In this position you work together with another business controller and a financial controller. Together you prepare the (monthly) figures that you analyze and interpret and use for the unit reviews and forecasts. Responsibilities include:

• The timely and accurate delivery of monthly figures, forecasts and budgets, which trigger the right actions;
• You discuss with the unit managers how the performance has been in the past period and what the expectations are for the future;
• Analyzing and monitoring gross margin analysis per customer and shipment;
• Making P&L and KPI reports and analyzes for the relevant units;
• Drafting business cases and preparing investment applications;
• Analyzing and thinking along about process improvements and how these can be implemented in the right way;
• Topics that are further discussed are, for example, the quality and performance of the gross margin per shipment, productivity development, risks and opportunities, profitability per customer, tariff development.

Your skills and experience

In order to do this job well, you have:

• A masters degree in accounting or controlling;
• A minimum of five years of experience;
• Good Excel skills and preferably also knowledge of working with Tableau;
• Strong communication- and social skills;
• You can deal well with peaks and troughs in the workload and the tight deadlines that recur periodically;
• You are able to ask critical questions and you can come up with proposals that make a positive contribution to the (future) result of the units.
