Our Business Controller / Controller is the linking pin between Business, Control, and Reporting activities within our organization. You are the company’s professional overseeing its financial business performance. As part of a Shared Service Team, you have a broad area of responsibility. This position includes not only business control but also partially controlling-related activities.
You will help our business (leaders) understand and navigate through the complexities of current client and compliance regulations and obligations. We acknowledge the importance of the business controller’s role and related contribution. As a vital member of our team, your opinion is heard, adding value to the company’s financial performance insights. With relevant steering information, you will provide valuable insights for local and international management.
It’s important to have a solid understanding of our business and operations, as well as the underlying business relationships, such as vendor inputs and related customer outputs. This includes supporting and improving processes and applications. Your contribution will support our deployed (global) transformation, such as further automating report production. Together with our team of professionals, you will also contribute to the company’s compliance and control. Thus, being part of the company’s internal and external audit cycles.
Job Duties
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): One of your main duties is overseeing our financial planning and analysis. Shifting from reconciliation to insightful analysis, including evaluating the company’s financial data and supporting plans to keep our business on the growth path.
Budget Management: You will play a key role in budget management. Responsible for each department’s budgeting needs, starting with planning budgets and monitoring them. You’ll also ensure the efficient use of resources and assist the business in reducing additional costs.
Internal Controls and Compliance: Safeguarding and further improving our developed and implemented processes. Protecting the company’s assets and ensuring the accuracy of financial data in reports. We follow up on these processes regularly, ensuring all business practices are conducted according to law, regulations, and internal policies.
Decision Support: You are a key player supporting (senior) management in decision-making. Providing financial data in an easy-to-understand way for relevant audiences. You also help analyze new business potential, opportunities, and client profitability.
Experience:
• At least 3 years of business control experience
• A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field
• Experience in an international (media) company
• ERP, Excel, and other application experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proactive team player, eager to learn, who enjoys working within a diverse team
• Flexible, precise, and immune to stress. Solution-minded
• Healthy doses of humor, a positive mindset, and energy.
