Senior Financial Accountant

"This Biotech is a leading company in the field of gene therapy, focused on developing single treatments with potentially curative results for patients suffering from genetic and other devastating diseases. The organization is advancing a pipeline of innovative gene therapies, including a clinical candidate for the treatment of Huntington’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), along with preclinical product candidates for refractory temporal lobe epilepsy (rTLE) and Fabry disease. In recent months, the company internally-developed gene therapy for the treatment of hemophilia B, known as HEMGENIX®, received approval for commercialization by the United States Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency.

The company produces its gene therapies in a commercial-scale, current good manufacturing practices compliant facility located in Lexington, Massachusetts.

The available role is that of a Sr. Financial Accountant, based in Amsterdam. This position will be operating in a fast-growing environment and will report into the European Finance Director while supporting the European Financial Manager.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive monthly close activities for multiple areas/companies (US GAAP)
• Enter monthly accounting journals, reconcile ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (eg (pre)clinical trial accruals, R&D contracts, Fixed Assets, other)
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and P&L and effectively execute processes that are SOx compliant
• Prepare and recognize the monthly fundings and revenues (including royalties)
• Calculate, invoice costs chargeable to external partners / contractors on a monthly or quarterly basis
• Maintain the intangible fixed assets register including the sub-licensee royalties & milestone payments
• Prepare grant applications and maintain grant administration
• Create correct and complete VAT, CBS and Intrastat reporting
• Assist in external & internal audit preparations and queries
• Actively participate and bring value to cross functional meetings intended to improve or automate accounting and control processes

Profile candidate

• The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Economics and have
• Minimum of 5 to 8 years of related experience in an international company.
• Additionally, proficiency in Excel, good communication skills, and the ability to work accurately in a dynamic environment are essential for this role.
• Knowledge of the English language is also crucial due to the international nature of the work.
• Experience with working in a US public company environment and with SOx404 requirements is considered advantageous
