The Senior Financial Controller will work for one or more entities.
2 entities where established in 2019 to anticipate and address the potential adverse impacts of Brexit on the entire Thomas Miller Companies group and to ensure uninterrupted service for Club members. One entitie serves as the management company for all insurance activities, while the other acts as the fronting entity for multiple insurance companies within the Group. Recently, the third entitie has established its own company in Rotterdam.

The Senior Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, managing the accounting function, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's books and records.

The finance function consist of:
• Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (1): Also serving as the CEO of the two insurers managed.
• Finance Manager (1): Also functioning as the CFO of the two insurers managed.
• Senior Financial Controllers (3)
• (Junior) Financial Controllers (3)
• Senior Data Analyst (1)
The Senior Financial Controllers are jointly responsible for carrying out all financial activities in collaboration with the (Junior) Financial controllers, the Senior Data Analyst and the finance departments of the Clubs. The whole team will contribute to improving data management and the internal control framework. There is a strong learning environment in which continuous improvement is paramount. The team plays a connecting role in achieving the common goals and also strives for mutual reinforcement and cooperation. Your tasks and responsibilities
As Senior Financial Controller you support the Finance Manager in the overall finance function of all legal entities. The successful individual will be process driven, focusing on improvement and efficiency, demonstrates exceptional technical skills and builds meaningful relationships across business areas whilst supporting the Finance Manager and CFO.
Key Task and Responsibilities:
• Monitor and assess internal and external developments in financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate implementation;
• Serve as a subject matter expert, advising and supporting the CFO and Finance Manager on accounting or reporting issues;
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, as well as annual statutory/regulatory financial statements and filings (including Solvency II);
• Handle tax filings and liaise with tax specialists (CIT, VAT, IPT);
• Oversee treasury functions, including management, credit control, and payments;
• Lead the annual and interim audit processes;
• Maintain the control environment for the company's financial records, continuously assessing effectiveness as the business grows;
• Collaborate with key function holders to understand and document data;
• Proactively recommend improvements to processes and procedures and participate in implementation;
• Develop, improve, and automate reporting methods;
• Participate in projects with the CFO, Finance Manager and other senior executives as needed;
• Support other ad hoc finance and administrative tasks.
Your experience and knowledge
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting;
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an insurance environment (non-life insurance company).
• Audit experience is desirable;
• Thorough knowledge of accounting laws and regulations;
• Strong MS Office skills; familiarity with SUN6 and Q&A11 is desirable;
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English, with experience in responding to stakeholder inquiries preferred;
• Numerate, well-organized, with strong interpersonal and team-working skills. Solutions-oriented, self-starter, and hands-on approach;
• Willingness to travel abroad as and when required.
