Risk Manager

The role
As Risk Manager, you will identify risk areas within the organisation. Besides the financial and legal risks, the main points of attention for Basic-Fit are risks and controls concerning health & safety, procurement, new technologies, expansion into new countries, business continuity and new products.

In this new position, you will create a solid risk strategy, guide and review risk assessments and support informed decision making by MT and Directors. You’ll ensure proper monitoring and reporting of risks and the related implementation of controls at global and local level and ensure adherence to all relevant policies, standards and models. Furthermore, you will provide training and awareness on risk to the first line of defence and support compliance to the relevant policies and procedures.

What are the tasks & responsibilities?

• To enhance risk & compliance awareness and improve best practices with respect to the risk management processes;
• Act as a centre of expertise and serve as a trusted advisor on the improvement of risk management within projects and related governance, taking into account the current digital transformation within Basic-Fit;
• Coordinate and facilitate risk assessments (e.g. general risk assessments and process walkthrough reviews), reviewing the design of business controls and monitor the implementation of these controls;
• Identify risk owners and develop risk mitigation strategies against each risk;
• Supporting the business with managing day-to-day risks or issues and in assessing the scope of required risk activities throughout the project lifecycle(s);
• Optimize and maintain the Internal Control Framework (in line with Group Risk Charter and risk policies), which incorporates all financial and IT key risk areas. Based on this, you’ll build and maintain a view on risks and controls and report to key stakeholders to steer them towards implementation of recommendations;
• Provide an independent view of all material risks to which Basic-Fit is or may become exposed: financial risk, operational risk, regulatory risk, and legal risk management.

The team

In this position you will report to the Director Legal, Risk & Compliance. You will closely work together with the Data Protection Officer, Compliance Officer and the IT Security Officer. Together, you are the second line of defence. You have one ICF Specialist reporting to you.

Furthermore, you have:

• A university degree, preferably in Economics, Business Administration or comparable degree;
• Strong experience in the Risk, Compliance or Audit field;
• Strong understanding of a risk-based approach to risk management and a strong knowledge of internal controls including the design and implementation of these measures;
• Working experience within an international organization, a listed environment is a plus;
• The DNA to deliver end-to-end solutions, integrated processes and implementation of actions that support business needs; experience with root cause analysis and new technologies;
• You are self-confident, able to report directly to Directors at senior level and communicate to your manager and MT. You have excellent stakeholder management skills and strong communication skills to explain and/or present complex, strategic recommendations;
• You are a self-starter with an optimistic, positive, hands-on, pragmatic mindset. Aptitude and willingness to set up new structures, roll-up the sleeves and get involved in the details.
• You are proficient English, both verbally and in writing. Strong communication skills in Dutch or French are a big plus.
