Payroll Specialist

Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist looking for your next step in a dynamic, international environment? Robert Walters Netherlands is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our Amsterdam office. In this key role, you'll be responsible for ensuring flawless and timely payroll processing, collaborating closely with HR and Finance, and supporting the broader team with payroll-related queries and administrative tasks.

Your Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely monthly payroll processing for all employees.
• Process monthly payroll and pension returns.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records in the payroll system (AFAS).
• Review and verify the correct calculation of wages, deductions, bonuses, and benefits.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
• Keep up with and ensure compliance with Dutch labor law and payroll regulations.
• Provide proforma gross/net calculations and assist with employer statements.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure accurate and complete payroll data (new hires, terminations, salary changes, etc.).
• Generate reports and analytics as needed for Finance and Management.
• Act as the go-to contact for payroll- and benefit-related questions and concerns.
• Maintain and update AFAS payroll system regularly.

Your Profile

• Previous experience in a payroll specialist role, preferably in an international or dynamic setting.
• Strong knowledge of AFAS payroll software is mandatory.
• Affinity and experience with improving payroll processes mainly in AFAS
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel in particular).
• Completed PDL degree (Praktijk Diploma Loonadministratie).
• Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken).
• Discreet, detail-oriented, and service-minded.
• Able to work independently and responsibly
• Up-to-date knowledge of payroll and tax regulations.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment.
• Proactive and hands-on approach.
