Interim Security Analyst

We are recruiting an Interim Security Analyst for an international Financial Services company in Amsterdam. We are seeking a skilled Interim Security Analyst with technical security knowledge and a passion for data-driven decision-making. During this assignment, you will monitor and improve the security posture by analyzing threats, tracking security metrics, and producing insightful dashboards that support operational and strategic security initiatives. Key responsibilities
Security Monitoring & Incident Response
• Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, and system events to identify suspicious or abnormal activity.
• Perform initial triage and investigation of security incidents and escalate when needed.
• Support continuous improvement of threat detection capabilities (e.g., playbooks, SIEM rules, automation).

Security Metrics, Reporting & Dashboarding
• Define, measure, and track key security metrics (e.g., vulnerabilities, IAM data, detection/response KPIs).
• Consolidate data from multiple security tools and sources (SIEM, EDR, IAM, scanners).
• Build and maintain dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, etc.) to provide clear visibility for management and operational teams.
• Translate technical data into digestible insights and recommended actions.
• Prepare recurring security reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly).

Security Operations Support
• Assist in maintaining and improving security tooling (e.g., SIEM, EDR, IAM, vulnerability scanning).
• Support vulnerability management processes and monitor remediation progress.
• Contribute documentation and evidence for audits, compliance checks, and security reviews.

Profile Interim Security Analyst
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in security operations, SOC, IT security, or related roles.
• Strong understanding of security concepts including, Threat detection & response, Vulnerability management, Access controls & identity security, Logging & monitoring.
• Experience working with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, LogRhythm).
• Proficient in data analysis using Excel, SQL, or similar tools.
• Hands-on experience with dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Ability to interpret technical data into clear business insights.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell, KQL) is nice to have.
• Familiarity with cloud security (Azure, AWS, or GCP is nice to have.
• Experience with automation or SOAR platforms is nice to have.

Duration: 6 months
Hours: 32-40 hours
Start: Mid-March
Location: 2 days in the office (Amsterdam)
Rate: Hourly
