Senior Legal Counsel

Up for a challenge? For a mid-sized European bank established in the heart of Amsterdam we are looking for a pro-active and independent Senior Legal Counsel experienced in Finance law.

This European bank offers financial solutions to their customers and counterparties in the areas of trade and commodity finance, corporate banking and private banking.

Objective of the Role

The legal department forms an integral part of the bank's operations and works closely together with all departments of the bank. The legal department is closely involved in the commercial and regulatory side of the orginazation.

The bank is now seeking a motivated and skilled Legal Counsel to join its Legal team in Amsterdam. The Senior legal counsel will report to the Head of Legal. The role covers a range of functions and specific tasks, however typical activities include:

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Advising the bank's front office, special accounts unit and credit risk department on (international) bilateral and syndicated loan & security documentation for trade finance and corporate banking transactions;
• Drafting and advising on loan & (local law) security documentation and coordinating the closing of transactions and legal topics with external parties and law firms;
• Advising the bank on commercial/IT contracts/outsourcing structures;
• Advising the bank on regulatory laws and legislation in general.

• Strong written, verbal and communication skills in English and in Dutch;
• Strong research skills;
• Solution-minded and able to cope with stress;
• Motivating personality and being a team player;
• Attention to details;
• Capable of working independently;
• Multi-cultural and having a diverse outlook.

Education and Experience:

• Qualified in preferably Dutch or UK law;
• Prefereably minimum 8 years of experience as a finance lawyer (as in-house counsel with a bank and/or an international law firm).
