Global Operational Buyer

Our client is seeking a Global Operational Buyer to join their central procurement organisation, based in the Amsterdam region. The role sits within Indirect Procurement, covering IT, Professional Services and Administrative categories. In this position, the Global Operational Buyer supports Global Sourcing Managers who are responsible for category strategy and supplier frameworks. The role is primarily operational and execution-focused, ensuring smooth day-to-day procurement activities and effective coordination between internal stakeholders and suppliers across multiple international locations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute operational procurement activities within Indirect Procurement (IT, Professional Services and Admin)

• Support Global Sourcing Managers with category initiatives, sourcing activities and framework agreements

• Manage RFQ and RFI processes and ensure compliance with procurement procedures

• Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders and issue call-offs

• Maintain procurement documentation, records and contract-related files

• Support bid tabulation, proposal preparation and contracting activities

• Follow up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of services

• Resolve issues related to sourcing, invoicing and payments

• Analyse procurement data to support informed decision-making

• Identify process improvements and share insights within the organisation

• Negotiate with suppliers within defined frameworks to achieve optimal commercial outcomes

Candidate profile

To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a solid understanding of procurement processes

• 2–5 years of experience in operational or tactical procurement

• Hands-on experience with SAP PR-to-PO processes or a comparable ERP system

• Exposure to IT and/or Professional Services procurement (preferred)

• Good understanding of basic contractual terms and commercial principles

• High attention to detail and the ability to manage high transaction volumes

• Comfort working across regions, cultures and time zone

What the client offers

• 25 to 29 vacation days

• Salary package up to €70,000 (including holiday allowance)

• Annual bonus up to 10%

• Candidates must already be located in the greater Amsterdam area; relocation support is not available
