Meet Tom

His positions ranged from COO to CFO, in maritime engineering, ICT, business services and the public sector, among others. He also supervised professional sailing teams in the 'Volvo Ocean Race', the Champions League of the sailing world, as team director. ''An instructive period, during which I learned to deal well with stress and crises,'' he says.  

As a restructuring & recovery consultant, Tom puts this stress resilience and top-class sports mentality to use in the recovery of companies in dire straits. His goal? Getting companies structurally on the right course. His broad base ensures that he is deployed at all types of companies, from business service providers, manufacturing companies to shipyards with over 12,000 employees.

I analyse company management and processes and see what and who needs to improve. I also bring discipline to the organisation and offer future perspective, including by deploying interim professionals. 

As an independent consultant, Tom is not a standard Robert Walters client. The interim professionals Tom hires are deployed on improvement projects at his clients. To crown the cooperation, Tom likes to do his bit for knowledge sharing. For example, he recently attended a Robert Walters interim event as a guest speaker. ''I enjoy transferring the life lessons I have gained to the finance profession and sharing them with an interesting audience.''
