Regulatory Compliance Officer – MiFID 2 / MiCAR

Our client is a leading proprietary trading firm operating in global financial markets. They are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer with a strong interest in Digital Assets to join their Regulatory Compliance team in Amsterdam. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in advising the business on complex regulatory matters, supporting strategic initiatives, and helping shape the firm's digital asset compliance framework within a highly entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse existing and upcoming financial market regulations, translating regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Lead the implementation of regulatory changes across the organisation, ensuring alignment with trading activities and operational processes.
  • Act as the primary compliance advisor to the Trading department on complex regulatory matters.
  • Own, maintain and continuously improve the regulatory compliance framework.
  • Draft, review and maintain compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Provide independent second-line oversight and constructive challenge to business initiatives.
  • Lead and contribute to regulatory-driven projects and strategic business initiatives.
  • Advise on Digital Assets regulation, including MiCAR and its interaction with MiFID II, supporting the development of crypto and tokenised securities trading activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, exchanges and other external stakeholders, managing regulatory inquiries, inspections and audits.
  • Conduct regulatory risk assessments and monitor ongoing compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training across the organisation.
  • Support senior management through regulatory updates, impact assessments and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with senior compliance leadership on strategic regulatory initiatives.

About You

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • 5–8+ years of experience within Regulatory Compliance in a financial markets environment.
  • Knowledge of European financial markets regulation, including MiFID II, MiFIR, EMIR, MAR, MiCAR, DORA and related frameworks.
  • Experience drafting and implementing compliance policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of working directly with regulators and managing regulatory inspections or audits.
  • Experience advising senior stakeholders within investment banking, capital markets, proprietary trading or exchange-traded environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments, trading activities and financial markets.
  • Experience conducting regulatory impact assessments and compliance risk analyses.
  • Strong interest in Digital Assets and the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgement and the ability to work independently.
