Credit Risk Manager

For an international bank in the Amserdam region I am recruiting for a Director – Credit Risk.

A Director of Credit Risk is a senior role responsible for overseeing credit risk assessment and portfolio management across structured finance (with a strong focus on leveraged finance), corporate lending, and financial institutions. The role includes providing strategic risk oversight, shaping risk appetite, supporting regulatory deliverables, and acting as deputy to the Head of Credit. The Director may represent Credit Risk at senior committees and contribute to the development of internal models, frameworks, and governance standards.

Skills, Experience & Competencies

10+ years experience in Credit Risk covering:

• Structured and Leveraged Finance (core expertise)
• Corporate lending
• Financial institutions

Strong understanding of:

• LMA and structured finance documentation
• ISDA/CSA and master agreements
• Risk modelling fundamentals (PD/LGD/EAD, rating methodologies)
• Basel III/IV, IFRS 9, and regulatory frameworks
• Ability to analyse complex financial models, structures, and legal documentation.
• Ability to operate confidently at senior management and Board level.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (Masters preferred).
• Professional qualifications beneficial (e.g., CFA, FRM, ACA, MBA).
• Strong regulatory awareness (PRA, FCA, EBA, ECB or relevant jurisdiction).
• Must have held Credit Approval Authority in a similar role.
