Are you passionate about international trade compliance and customs regulations? Do you enjoy working in a global environment where your expertise directly impacts business continuity and risk management? We are currently recruiting a Customs & Export Control Specialist for a leading international manufacturing organization with operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This is a unique opportunity to combine customs compliance, export control, and business advisory responsibilities within a dynamic and highly international setting.

About the Role

  • As a Customs & Export Control Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international customs regulations, export control legislation, sanctions programs, and trade compliance requirements across the EMEA region.
  • Working within the Finance department, you will manage customs processes, maintain tariff classifications and customs master data, support import and export activities, and conduct export control screenings on customers, suppliers, and transactions.
  • Approximately 60% of your time will be dedicated to customs compliance activities and 40% to export control responsibilities.
  • You will work closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Legal, and external customs authorities while reporting directly to the Finance Manager.
  • This position has become available due to the departure of the current specialist, creating an excellent opportunity to take ownership of an established and highly visible compliance function.
  • The role is based in Almere and involves a 37.5-hour workweek.

About You

  • We are looking for a hands-on compliance professional with approximately 4–5 years of experience in Customs Compliance, Export Control, or International Trade Compliance.
  • You have a solid understanding of customs procedures, tariff classifications, import/export documentation, sanctions screening, and international trade regulations.
  • Experience working with customs authorities, logistics providers, and ERP systems such as SAP is highly valued.
  • Beyond technical expertise, you are analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of identifying potential compliance risks before they become issues.
  • You enjoy working independently but are equally comfortable collaborating with colleagues across departments and countries.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, as you will regularly advise internal stakeholders on customs and export control matters. Fluency in English is required, while Dutch is considered an advantage.

About the Organization

Our client is a globally recognized manufacturer operating in more than 130 countries worldwide. The company develops innovative solutions for industries including agriculture, construction, marine, energy, and industrial equipment. With a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and technological innovation, the organization has built an outstanding reputation over more than a century.

The European headquarters is located in Almere and serves as a central hub for operations throughout the EMEA region. Employees describe the culture as international, collaborative, and pragmatic, with plenty of opportunities to contribute ideas and make an impact.

What’s on Offer?

  • This position offers a salary between €55,000 and €65,000 gross per year, depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
  • You will receive a 13th-month salary, 8% holiday allowance, annual salary reviews, and the opportunity to work in a highly international environment.
  • The company supports hybrid working, allowing up to two days per week from home, and offers flexible start times between 08:00 and 10:00. In addition, you will have access to ongoing professional development opportunities and the chance to further specialize within customs compliance and export control.
