The opportunity For a leading international financial institution, we are looking for an experienced Sourcing Project Manager – Global Technology to join a newly established international procurement team.

Operating across more than 20 countries, the organisation has a complex and highly international technology landscape. Within this environment, Procurement plays an important role in developing sourcing strategies, managing strategic suppliers and supporting the organisation in making commercially sound and compliant procurement decisions.

As Sourcing Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading complex Technology sourcing initiatives from initial business requirements through supplier selection, negotiation and contract execution.

This is a senior, hands-on sourcing position. You will work closely with Category Managers, Technology stakeholders and other functions across the organisation while taking ownership of high-value sourcing projects.

What will you be responsible for?

You will manage strategic sourcing projects across the global Technology category and act as an experienced procurement partner to both Category Managers and senior business stakeholders.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading end-to-end source-to-contract projects within Technology.

• Translating business requirements into effective sourcing and execution strategies.

• Conducting market analysis and identifying suitable suppliers and sourcing opportunities.

• Designing and managing complex RFx processes, from documentation and supplier briefings through evaluation and final negotiations.

• Leading commercial and contractual negotiations with strategic technology suppliers.

• Managing sourcing projects with significant spend and international stakeholder involvement.

• Advising Category Managers on sourcing strategy, supplier segmentation and opportunities for value creation.

• Working closely with senior stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business and Technology requirements.

• Supporting supplier selection, onboarding and Know Your Supplier processes.

• Ensuring sourcing activities comply with internal procurement, risk and regulatory requirements.

• Monitoring supplier performance and supporting discussions around contractual obligations, service quality and performance improvement.

• Leading cross-functional project teams across multiple countries and regions.

• Coaching procurement colleagues on sourcing methodologies, analytical approaches and negotiation techniques.

The position requires someone who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You should be comfortable developing the sourcing approach at the beginning of a project while also taking ownership of the detailed execution and negotiations required to bring the project to completion.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a senior procurement professional with substantial experience in Technology sourcing and strategic procurement, ideally within banking or international financial services.

You bring:

• 6+ years of procurement experience at tactical and/or strategic level within an international financial services environment.

• 5+ years of experience leading strategic sourcing and contracting projects within Technology, including transformation programmes.

• A proven track record of managing complex, high-value sourcing projects from initial market analysis through contract execution.

• Experience leading major procurement programmes within a bank or comparable international and regulated organisation.

• Strong knowledge of Technology procurement, strategic sourcing and category management.

• Demonstrable experience with complex commercial and contractual negotiations.

• Experience running large-scale RFx processes involving more than €5 million in spend.

• Good understanding of banking procurement processes, regulatory requirements, compliance and supplier risk.

• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders.

• Experience operating within complex international and matrixed organisations.

• The ability to lead cross-functional teams across different countries and business areas.

• Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation capabilities.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

A university degree is required. A Master’s degree and/or educational background in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred given the Technology focus of the position.

In addition, the organisation is looking for someone who can share knowledge with the wider procurement function. Previous experience coaching or mentoring procurement professionals is therefore highly relevant.

The type of person who will succeed

This role will suit someone who is comfortable operating between strategy, project management and commercial negotiation.

You understand how to structure a complex sourcing project, but you are equally comfortable challenging stakeholders, analysing supplier proposals and taking the lead during difficult negotiations.

Because you will work across multiple countries and functions, you should be able to navigate different stakeholder interests and bring structure to situations where requirements are not always immediately clear.

You are able to operate independently, communicate confidently with senior stakeholders and maintain momentum throughout lengthy and complex procurement processes.
