Indirect Tax Manager
Are you an experienced Indirect Tax professional looking for a broad international role where you can combine technical expertise with process improvement, tax technology and business partnering?
For an international biotechnology company based in Leiden, we are looking for an Indirect Tax Manager to take ownership of the global indirect tax function.
Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, you will be responsible for indirect tax compliance and governance across multiple jurisdictions, while also helping to improve processes, controls and tax technology.
What will you do?
- Manage and coordinate global VAT, GST and Sales & Use Tax compliance.
- Oversee VAT/GST returns, EC Sales Listings, Intrastat and related reporting requirements.
- Monitor VAT positions, refund claims, assessments and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Advise the business on indirect tax matters across Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain.
- Monitor developments such as ViDA, e-invoicing and digital reporting requirements.
- Develop and strengthen indirect tax processes, controls and governance.
- Support SOX and internal control requirements relating to indirect tax.
- Drive automation and tax technology improvements across systems such as SAP and Coupa.
- Support customs, import VAT and supply-chain-related tax matters.
- Work closely with external tax advisors, auditors and tax authorities.
What are we looking for?
- Approximately 8+ years of relevant indirect tax experience.
- Strong knowledge of VAT and international indirect tax requirements.
- Experience gained within a multinational environment and/or Big Four or tax advisory firm.
- Experience managing indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exposure to ERP systems, preferably SAP, and an interest in tax technology and automation.
- Experience with e-invoicing, digital reporting and/or indirect tax technology is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of SOX or other internal control frameworks is an advantage.
- Experience with GST, US Sales & Use Tax or customs is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical, proactive and hands-on working style.
- Fluent English; Dutch is a big advantage.
Experience within pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices or another international business environment is considered an advantage.
