EMEA Regional Coverage Banker (Japanese Corporates)
This position focuses on developing the Europe–Japan corridor and growing relationships with Japanese companies in the Netherlands and surrounding markets.
EMEA Regional Coverage Banker (Japanese Corporates) -Amsterdam
The EMEA Regional Coverage Banker (Japanese Corporates) will be in the international banking industry, based in Amsterdam.
This position will sit in the EMEA Regional Coverage team focusing on other asian and US markets reporting to the Head of Japanese Desk EMEA as well as the Head of NL EMEA Coverage team.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for strategic clients across EMEA, building relationships with treasury teams, senior executives and other key decision-makers.
- Take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of clients and originate new regional business opportunities.
- Develop relationships across finance, procurement, sustainability, business development and the C-suite.
- Analyse client needs, prepare account plans and proactively present relevant banking solutions.
- Introduce the bank’s full range of corporate and investment banking products.
- Coordinate product specialists and international deal teams to secure new mandates and grow revenue.
- Work with internal teams, including compliance, risk, implementation and customer service, to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Coordinate closely with relationship bankers in Japan and local coverage teams across EMEA.
- Lead the European client strategy as part of the global coverage team.
- Maintain accurate pipelines, call reports and CRM records.
- Grow revenue and deposits while considering capital, liquidity and cost requirements.
- Support credit processes by providing insight into client activities, strategy and risks.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience managing and developing complex corporate client relationships.
- Strong understanding of Japanese business culture and the ability to work effectively in a European environment.
- Japanese-language capability and full professional English.
- Strong origination, negotiation and stakeholder-influencing skills.
- Solid credit, analytical, legal and risk-management knowledge.
- Commercial, results-driven and highly organised.
- Able to manage multiple clients and projects in an international environment.
- Broad knowledge of corporate banking products, including lending, cash management, deposits, trade and supply-chain finance, capital markets, foreign exchange, leasing and insurance.
- Approximately 8+ years of experience in corporate coverage or a related banking role.
- University degree and willingness to travel.
- Willingness to represent the bank within relevant Japanese business networks, chambers of commerce and industry associations.
