Financial Controller

Financial Controller | Sustainable Energy Scale-Up | Amsterdam For a fast-growing and innovative company in the sustainable energy sector, we are looking for a Financial Controller. This organization develops smart energy solutions for residential customers and is experiencing rapid growth, both operationally and internationally.

As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for a broad range of accounting, reporting and compliance activities across multiple legal entities. In addition, you will play a key role in driving finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives across the business. You will work closely with the CFO, department heads, the People Team and the wider finance organization.

Responsibilities

• Own financial reporting areas including payroll, overhead, capex, taxation, accounts payable and other assets and liabilities.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Prepare standalone and consolidated financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Manage VAT and corporate income tax compliance.
• Coordinate and support external audits, providing input on areas within your responsibility.
• Provide day-to-day coaching and support to the Accounts Payable and General Ledger teams.
• Partner with department heads and HR to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies and financial procedures.
• Drive Finance Excellence initiatives across the organization.

Key Projects

• Lead the redesign and optimization of the AP automation and approval workflow environment.
• Drive transfer pricing processes and intercompany accounting between legal entities.
• Act as finance lead for ERP, banking and finance systems improvements.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve controls and increase reporting efficiency.
• Support the continued professionalization and scalability of the finance function.

Profile

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• RA, ACCA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within accounting, audit or financial control.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP; IFRS experience is considered an advantage.
• Experience preparing both statutory and consolidated financial statements.
• Experience working within an international multi-entity environment.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on mentality with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Able to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Eligible to work in the Netherlands without employer sponsorship.

Offer

• Annual salary between €85,000 and €95,000 gross per year, including 8% holiday allowance (based on a 40-hour workweek).
