Senior Compliance Officer – MiFID / MiCAR

Our client is a leading Amsterdam-based proprietary trading firm with a globally recognised presence in digital assets. Among the earliest market makers to establish a dedicated crypto desk in Europe, they operate at the cutting edge of both traditional and digital financial markets, with digital assets deeply embedded across all divisions. We are searching for a Senior Compliance Officer – Digital Assets Specialist to join their Regulatory Compliance team in Amsterdam. This is a high-impact, senior individual contributor role advising trading and leadership on the full spectrum of digital asset regulation, with MiCAR at its core.

• Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on MiCAR and broader EU and global digital asset regulation
• Act as primary compliance partner to the digital assets trading desk, translating regulatory developments into pragmatic business guidance
• Support new product launches, market expansions, and business development from a regulatory perspective
• Engage directly with regulators (AFM and others), exchanges, and market infrastructure providers
• Design, implement, and maintain policies and controls for digital asset trading
• Coordinate regulatory inquiries and internal/external audits
• Deliver compliance training across the organisation with a digital assets lens
• Manage licensing trajectories, including MIC licensing processes

• University degree in Law or a related field; strong legal and regulatory grounding is essential
• 8+ years of compliance or regulatory advisory experience in financial markets
• Career foundation in traditional financial services regulatory compliance (MiFID II, EMIR), subsequently deepened in the digital asset or crypto space
• Demonstrable hands-on experience with MiCAR — clear affinity and depth, not surface familiarity
• Exposure to licensing trajectories (MIC/CASP or equivalent)
• Experience engaging with regulators, exchanges, and crypto-native market participants
• Commercially minded, pragmatic, and comfortable advising in fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environments

• Base salary of €120,000–€140,000 (inclusive of holiday allowance), depending on experience
• Performance- and company-based bonus, ranging from 30–50% of base salary
• 40-hour contract; full-time office presence for the first six months, then hybrid (approx. 3 days in-office per week)
