Financial Controller

The role
You join a Dutch finance team of nine, report to the Head of Finance, and learn the full controllership cycle alongside an experienced Senior Financial Controller. You start by supporting and contributing, take on more of the cycle as you grow, and work with business unit managers, the external accountant and advisers, and the finance teams in Germany and the UK.

This team does not just run the process. It continuously questions and improves it, and you will be encouraged to spot and propose better ways of working.

What you will work on

• Supporting the consolidation of group entities and the quarterly and annual reporting cycle, and learning how it comes together end to end
• Contributing to the annual accounts and growing into a main point of contact for the accountant and advisers
• Analysing group cash flow and reviewing project cash flows
• Taking part in the yearly budget cycle and reporting against group budgets
• Helping keep control of the general ledger, intercompany reconciliations and intercompany transfers
• Preparing the monthly VAT returns and general ledger reconciliations
• Monitoring recharges to departments and business units, and coordinating and controlling payments
• Contributing to the oversight of the finance systems, including MS Business Central
• Supporting the Business Controller on project-specific administration and analysis
• Aligning reporting and consolidation with the German and UK finance teams

Who we are looking for
You are sharp, structured and exact, and you hold yourself to a high bar without being asked. You learn fast, you do your best work in person alongside strong colleagues, and you want to see how a business runs from the inside. You communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and you want to make things better, not just keep them running.

• WO degree in economics or a related field; an RA or RC accreditation is a plus
• Audit experience at a Big Four firm (or similar)
• Hands-on experience with consolidations and reporting, for example from group audits
• Fluent Dutch and English (must have); German is an advantage
• Genuine interest in real estate
• Business or project controlling experience is not required; you will learn it here
