Foodservice Buyer Salary: 52000-65000 Location: Utrecht Keywords: collaborative, inclusive, sustainable purchasing, networking, procurement expertise, customised agreements, data-driven technology, diverse client base, flexible working opportunities, supportive leadership

A leading procurement platform in the foodservice and hospitality sector is seeking a Foodservice Buyer to join their dedicated team in Vianen, Utrecht. This hybrid role offers you the opportunity to shape strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations for some of the most prominent names in the industry. You will be at the heart of a progressive purchasing network, collaborating with specialised category buyers and supporting a diverse portfolio of clients. The organisation is committed to sustainable returns, innovation in quality and packaging, and shortening supply chains for greater sustainability. With generous salary offerings between €52,000 and €65,000, flexible working arrangements, and a culture that values authenticity and inclusion, this is your chance to make a tangible impact on procurement outcomes while enjoying professional growth within an expert team.

  • Enjoy a competitive salary range of €52,000 to €65,000 with flexible hybrid working options based out of Vianen, Utrecht.
  • Work alongside industry leaders in foodservice and hospitality, contributing directly to innovative purchasing strategies and sustainable supply chain improvements.
  • Be part of an inclusive environment that welcomes all backgrounds, offering you the chance to share knowledge, expand your network, and drive meaningful change across a diverse client base.

What you'll do:

As a Foodservice Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping procurement strategies for leading players in hospitality, catering, leisure, and entertainment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve analysing spend data to identify opportunities for cost savings, running comprehensive tender processes, negotiating bespoke supplier agreements, and developing innovative purchasing programmes. You will work collaboratively with both internal teams and external stakeholders—specialised category buyers from member organisations—to guide projects that deliver sustainable results. By sharing your expertise within the procurement team and fostering strong networks, you will help drive industry-wide improvements in quality, packaging, and supply chain sustainability. Your ability to communicate clearly and tailor solutions to client needs will be essential as you support ambitious projects ranging from commercial kitchen realisations to optimising group purchasing services. Success in this role means not only achieving savings but also creating lasting value for clients through thoughtful collaboration and strategic insight.

  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple foodservice and hospitality clients by identifying purchasing opportunities that deliver measurable cost savings.
  • Run tender processes from start to finish, ensuring thorough analysis of spend data and consolidation of suppliers for optimal results.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements with a focus on creating customised deals that address specific client needs rather than relying on standard contracts.
  • Develop procurement strategies that balance commercial judgement with sustainable returns, always aiming for value creation beyond individual achievements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to build tailored purchasing programmes that maximise volume advantages.
  • Guide and coordinate projects together with specialised category buyers from member organisations within the purchasing cooperative.
  • Share knowledge and foster networking within the procurement team to ensure best practices are adopted throughout all activities.
  • Contribute to industry innovation by challenging norms around quality, packaging, and sustainability while helping shorten supply chains.
  • Support clients in achieving their ambitions through real-time cost price insights, purchasing optimisation, and the realisation of commercial kitchens and bars.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients and suppliers to convey requirements effectively and ensure alignment on project goals.

What you bring:

Your proven experience as a Foodservice Buyer—or similar procurement specialist—will be instrumental in driving successful outcomes for this role. You bring deep industry knowledge coupled with strong interpersonal skills that allow you to connect meaningfully with clients from hospitality giants to leisure providers. Your analytical abilities enable you to dissect spend data efficiently while your creative mindset ensures solutions are always tailored rather than generic. Clear communication is second nature; whether you're negotiating supplier terms or guiding project teams through complex challenges. Flexibility allows you to adapt quickly as priorities shift while your honest approach builds trust among colleagues and partners alike. You thrive in collaborative environments where sharing expertise leads to better results—and your commitment to inclusivity means every voice is heard. By combining these strengths with a passion for sustainable purchasing practices, you'll help shape innovative strategies that deliver measurable value across an impressive client portfolio.

  • Demonstrated expertise in procurement or buying roles within the foodservice industry or similar sectors is highly desirable.
  • Clear and concise communication skills that allow you to convey complex information effectively to both clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to enthuse stakeholders by presenting compelling arguments for collaboration and innovative solutions.
  • Creative thinking skills that enable you to develop customised agreements beyond standard approaches.
  • Flexibility in communication style paired with honesty ensures you can adapt messages for different audiences while maintaining trust.
  • Target-group orientation allows you to understand what each customer is looking for and tailor your approach accordingly.
  • Personal touch in interactions helps build rapport with conversation partners across diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working collaboratively within teams or networks where sharing knowledge is valued.
  • Analytical skills for spend analysis, supplier consolidation, and procurement strategy development are essential.
  • Commitment to inclusivity ensures you contribute positively to an environment welcoming all applicants regardless of background.
