Senior Financial Accountant

We are partnering exclusively with a leading proprietary trading firm to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant based in Amsterdam. This is a hands-on senior role within the Record-to-Report function, combining direct accounting responsibility with review, coordination, and project ownership. Ideal for an experienced financial accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and is ready to take real ownership.

The Role
- Act as right hand to the Head of Business Accounting, supporting day-to-day leadership of Record-to-Report activities
- Take end-to-end responsibility for accounting across assigned entities and areas within the general ledger
- Prepare, review and post journal entries including complex accruals, prepayments, estimates and corrections
- Perform and review bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Lead and coordinate assigned parts of the month-end close and trial balance preparation
- Run improvement projects within Record-to-Report including process clean-ups and automation initiatives
- Prepare and review reporting packs for internal management, auditors and other stakeholders
- Act as first-line contact for audit requests with limited supervision
- Coach and review junior team members, acting as quality gate and escalation point

What You'll Need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting or Record-to-Report
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
- Proven experience working independently up to trial balance level including review responsibilities
- Hands-on experience with month-end close in a multi-entity or complex environment
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
- Experience with Exact or similar ERP systems is a plus
- Working knowledge of SQL is a plus
- Dutch language skills are a plus; strong English is required
