Controller

For an International Insurance company, based in Amsterdam, we are looking for a Controller. You will report directly to the European Finance Controller and CEO of the German entity. You will have the day-to-day responsibility to oversee the entire daily, weekly, and monthly financial transaction recording process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Key activities include supervising the bookkeeping, managing accounts payable/receivable, reconciling bank/credit card statements, preparing financial reports (balance sheets, P&L), and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Interested? Them keep reading!

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Coordinating financial bookkeeping, transaction and cost allocation management.
• Completion of month end closing processes.
• Management of invoicing, timely payments and receipts and liquidity position.
• Involvement in financial follow up of agreements with Insurance and Service clients.
• Involvement in forecasting process.
• Ensuring appropriate systems and controls are in place to support all financial regulatory requirements.
• Establishing structured bookings and reporting for new (insurance) agreements.
• Maintaining financial and other process controls to ensure the administration is in accordance with legal and regulatory obligations and ethical conduct of business.
• Preparation for Audit requirements and deliverables.
• Preparation of annual financial statements, budget and forecast.
• Delivery of input for Solvency II and actuarial calculations.
• Creation of manual journal entries.
• Participate in group calls.

Desired skills and experience

• University of Higher Vocational level (Finance/Accounting).
• Held financial positions previously (preferably in Financial Services or Insurance industries).
• Adept and working in a multi stakeholder and matrix organization.
• Experience of Insurance and Reinsurance (nice to have).
• Valuation rules and applicable laws and regulations.
• Strong English language in both verbal and written. German is a nice to have.
• Competent in managing external stakeholders: regulatory officers, banks, external auditors.
• Decisive and cooperative.
• Used to work with tight deadlines.
• Proven ability to safeguard the interests of the company, the Group and its subsidiaries.
