Our client is a global player in the digital platform industry, operating some of Europe’s most known marketplace brands. Their operations are backed by strong tech hubs and centralized financial governance structures, with part of their group finance function based in Amsterdam. From a finance perspective, the Amsterdam office oversees a portfolio of holding entities that support the group’s broader investment, intercompany, and funding structures. These companies are crucial for enabling financial flows across borders and ensuring the group’s financial stability.

Position Overview
As Holding Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial oversight of approximately 30 holding companies. These entities include activities such as intercompany loans, cross-charging, payroll (in a few entities), and investment accounting.

While the transactional and compliance work is largely outsourced to accounting firms and shared service centers, your role is to manage these partners, perform key validations and sign-offs, and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant reporting. You will serve as a liaison between Amsterdam-based functions and global finance teams, including Treasury, Consolidation, and Legal.

You will report to the Director of Consolidation based in Barcelona and collaborate closely with local stakeholders and a small international team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for Dutch holding entities
• Review trial balances, lead flux analysis, and validate postings for accuracy
• Manage intercompany revenue/costs accounting and allocation postings
• Support local statutory reporting, audits, and regulatory filings
• Coordinate with outsourced partners (shared service centers and accounting firms)
• Engage with global and local stakeholders including Treasury, Consolidation, Legal, and HR
• Provide accounting input and oversight for holding-related projects
• Contribute to internal process improvements and reporting enhancements
• Report through systems such as SAP S4 HANA and Onestream

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Controlling
• Minimum 5 years’ experience, including time in a Big Four audit firm and preferably experience working directly with holding companies
• Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP and IFRS
• Proficient with SAP S4 HANA or similar ERP systems
• Hands-on and proactive, with strong attention to detail
• Solid Excel skills and a data-driven mindset
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Able to work independently and navigate international matrix structures
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus
• You must already reside in the Netherlands and have the right to work here (no sponsorship available)
