Company Overview

Our client is an investor-backed and sustainability-focused industrial business operating within the production sector. The organization is currently going through a significant operational and finance transformation phase focused on improving business performance, strengthening reporting and controls, and further professionalizing the finance function.

The company operates in a hands-on and entrepreneurial environment where finance plays a critical role in supporting operational improvement and long-term business growth. The role is based in the Zwolle region.

Role Overview

As Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in bringing more structure, ownership, and operational visibility into the finance organization. This is not a purely transactional accounting role - the position requires someone who understands how accounting impacts the broader business and operations.

You will work closely with the Finance Director and become a key finance contact within the organization, helping to improve reporting, strengthen processes, and support the company through its next growth and transformation phase.

The role requires a highly hands-on mindset and someone comfortable operating in an evolving environment where processes and systems are still being further developed.

Key Responsibilities

• Full ownership of day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close processes
• Improve and professionalize accounting processes, reporting structure, and controls
• Support operational and management reporting
• Ensure accuracy and visibility around accruals, balance sheet positions, and cash flow-related reporting
• Work closely with operational stakeholders and support business decision-making
• Support ERP/system improvements and future process optimization initiatives
• Coordinate with external parties including auditors and accounting/tax advisors
• Act as a strong right hand to the Finance Direcot within the organization

Candidate We Are Looking For

The successful candidate for the Senior Accountant role will bring:

• 5–10 years of accounting experience within a production, manufacturing, industrial, or operational environment
• Strong understanding of operational accounting, inventory accounting, and month-end close processes
• Experience working in hands-on and evolving organizations where processes are still developing
• Ability to bring structure, ownership, and accountability into finance processes
• ERP system experience and confidence working with operational data
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with business stakeholders
• Professional fluency in English; Dutch is strongly preferred due to local stakeholder interactions

Profiles coming from operational environments and comfortable combining accounting with process improvement and business support will likely be most successful in this setup.
