Manager Accounting

Our client is a leading global engineering and project-driven organisation focused on delivering large-scale industrial and energy transition projects. As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced manager accounting & reporting to lead their accounting function in the Netherlands.

The Role

As a manager accounting you will be responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting activities of the Dutch entities. You will lead a team of five finance professionals covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Indirect Tax Reporting. In addition, you will provide functional leadership to accounting resources operating from an international shared service environment.

You will act as a key business partner to local and corporate leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with statutory and group requirements.

The organisation is currently involved in the development of an innovative industrial facility in the North of the Netherlands. The project focuses on producing next-generation sustainable fuels for the aviation sector, helping reduce carbon emissions and supporting the transition towards more environmentally responsible air travel. This flagship project highlights the company's commitment to delivering solutions that create a tangible impact on global sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the local accounting team and provide functional leadership to accounting staff within a global shared service structure.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities in accordance with IFRS and Dutch GAAP.
• Ensure accurate and timely group reporting and statutory financial reporting.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with corporate frameworks and policies.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and coordinate external and internal audit processes.
• Analyse financial results and provide meaningful insights to local and corporate stakeholders.
• Support tax accounting and reporting activities, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax, and Withholding Tax.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, systems, and controls.
• Partner with local management and corporate functions on strategic and operational projects.
  
  

Must-have qualifications and experience:

• Registered Auditor (RA) in the Netherlands.
• Background within a Big Four accounting firm.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a comparable international accounting environment, preferably within a listed company.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP.
• Solid understanding of Dutch tax regulations, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax, and Payroll Tax.
• Experience working with financial reporting and accounting systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English.
