Financial Controller

About the Role Within a fast-growing international software organization, a broad Financial Controller position is available within the Finance function. In this role, you are responsible for the financial administration of one or more entities within a global group structure.

The organization operates in a highly international environment with activities across multiple regions worldwide. Financial operations are managed from a centralized finance function in the Netherlands, where the full accounting cycle for multiple entities is handled.

You will work closely with the CFO and a compact, international finance team. For entities outside the Netherlands, coordination takes place with external local partners supporting statutory, tax, and compliance requirements. The organization is increasingly focused on strengthening internal control, centralisation and ownership of financial processes.

You will report directly to the CFO and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Financial Administration

• Full ownership of accounting and financial administration for assigned entities
• Accounts payable, payment runs, invoicing, collections and general ledger management
• Preparation of journal entries, accruals, deferred revenue and intercompany postings
• Execution of monthly close processes, reconciliations and FX revaluations
• Review of payroll journals in collaboration with HR
• Ensuring accurate, complete and timely financial records

Financial Reporting & Close

• Ownership of monthly and annual closing processes
• Preparation of management reporting and statutory financial statements
• Contribution to group consolidation and financial analysis
• Coordination of external audit processes and acting as key contact for auditors

Compliance & International Operations

• Support of VAT, tax and statutory compliance across jurisdictions
• Coordination with external accounting firms and advisors globally
• Support in cash management and working capital optimisation
• Identification of risks and control gaps within financial processes

Revenue & Subscription Accounting

• Correct accounting of subscription-based revenue and revenue recognition
• Management of deferred revenue and contract accounting
• Support in KPI analysis within a SaaS/subscription model
• Finance support to commercial teams on billing and contract matters

Systems & Process Improvement

• Work with multiple ERP and finance systems in an international environment (e.g. Exact Globe or similar)
• Maintenance of finance systems, user access and data integrity
• Contribution to automation and process improvements
• Participation in finance system implementation projects (experience with Lucanet or similar is a strong plus)

Budgeting & Business Support

• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles
• Variance analysis versus budget and forecast
• Translating financial data into clear business insights

Profile

Experience & Background

• 5–8 years relevant experience in financial administration or accounting
• Strong experience with full accounting cycle and hands-on execution
• Experience in multi-entity and/or international environments is required
• Comfortable performing both complex (consolidation, compliance, audit coordination) and operational accounting tasks

Must-Haves (Hard Criteria)

• No sponsorship required
• Maximum salary indication: €80.000 (incl. holiday allowance, 40h)
• Living within approx. 45 minutes travel from the Vianen area
• Strong hands-on accounting mindset (not purely advisory/strategic profiles)

Strongly Preferred

• Experience in MKB, scale-up or technology/SaaS environments (corporate-only backgrounds may be less suitable)
• Experience with Exact Globe or similar ERP systems
• Experience with Lucanet or comparable consolidation tools
• Experience in SaaS or subscription-based business models
• Comfortable working independently in a lean finance team

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Hands-on, ownership-driven and proactive mindset
• Able to work independently without large support structures
• Strong communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
• Able to manage tight deadlines during closing cycles
• High integrity and comfort handling operational finance tasks (e.g. invoice processing, payments, month-end close)

Compensation & Conditions

• Salary: up to €80.000 including holiday allowance (40 hours)
• Travel allowance: €0.23 per km
• Home office allowance: €2.42 per day
