The Legal & Compliance team of Advario plays a vital role in supporting the company’s global commercial operations. We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Legal Counsel to join their team in Rotterdam.

Your Role

As a Senior Commercial Legal Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor to Advario’s business units, mainly for the EME region, primarily supporting commercial operations in relation to:

• Commercial agreements including storage, service level, and long-term customer contracts.
• Procurement contracts involving the supply of goods and services.
• Disputes and claims management, including negotiation, mitigation strategies, and coordination with external counsel.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Operations, HSSE and Procurement, to ensure contracts are aligned with business goals, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices. You will report directly to the VP Legal, Compliance & Insurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and procurement agreements.
• Advise on legal risks and mitigation strategies in support of business initiatives.
• Support dispute resolution and claims processes, including litigation and arbitration.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies, templates, and best practices.
• Provide training to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance topics.
• Collaborate with external legal advisors and manage their input and costs effectively.

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in Law.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Strong expertise in commercial contract law, preferably in the energy, chemical, or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience with disputes and claims management, including construction-related disputes, is a strong plus.
• Proactive, solution-oriented, and commercially minded.
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or other language skills are an advantage.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
