An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director of Tax & Treasury to join a leading international organisation based in the Netherlands. What you'll do:

As Director of Tax and Treasury, you will play a central role in guiding the organisation’s approach to both taxation and treasury management. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with internal teams across finance, legal, reporting, accounting, consolidation as well as external partners such as auditors, banks, investment firms, regulators, and third-party advisors. You will be responsible for developing clear strategies that align with organisational goals while ensuring full compliance with evolving global regulations. Your ability to analyse complex transactions or proposed business activities will be crucial in providing actionable recommendations to senior management. In addition to overseeing operational cash management activities—ensuring liquidity stability—you will also participate in long-term funding plans alongside executive leadership. By maintaining strong internal controls over accounting/reporting processes for significant taxes—and driving continuous process improvements—you will help safeguard the organisation’s financial integrity while supporting its growth ambitions.

  • Oversee all tax-related activities including compliance with local and international tax laws, managing relationships with third-party tax service providers, and ensuring timely identification of potential tax impacts from new business developments.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls over accounting and reporting for significant taxes, ensuring accuracy in financial statements and regulatory submissions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors, regulatory authorities, banks, investment firms, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and effective partnership.
  • Provide proactive advice on tax implications related to business initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing agreements for foreign subsidiaries, and other strategic projects.
  • Collaborate extensively with Finance, Legal, Reporting, Accounting, Consolidation departments, and other cross-functional teams to integrate tax considerations into business decisions.
  • Manage treasury operations including cash management activities, funding execution, currency and interest rate risk management in line with group policies.
  • Participate in strategic advisory discussions with CFO/CEO regarding treasury matters; contribute to high-level negotiations with financial institutions and investors.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, rulings, or business developments; assess their impact on compliance requirements; provide guidance to internal stakeholders accordingly.
  • Review prepared tax returns by third-party providers for accuracy and completeness; coordinate responses during audits; ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Drive process improvements by identifying risks or weaknesses within current systems; develop corrective measures that enhance efficiency across both tax and treasury functions.

What you bring:

To excel as Director of Tax and Treasury you will bring extensive experience gained from senior roles within international corporate environments or top-tier advisory firms. Your academic background should include a master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline such as business administration or finance—with additional qualifications/certifications in taxation considered highly beneficial. You will have demonstrated your ability to manage complex global compliance requirements while building trusted partnerships both inside/outside your previous organisations. Your proven organisational skills mean you can handle multiple priorities simultaneously—always delivering accurate results on time. Strong analytical thinking enables you to interpret changing regulations quickly then translate these insights into practical solutions that support wider business objectives. As an excellent communicator you are adept at engaging diverse audiences—from board members through operational teams—ensuring everyone understands their role in achieving collective success.

  • A master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, tax or treasury—or equivalent qualification—is required; an advanced degree in taxation or relevant certification is preferred.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in tax/accounting or treasury management within an international corporate environment or Big Four advisory services is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing global tax compliance activities—including transfer pricing agreements—and building strong relationships with third-party service providers.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex tax audits while ensuring accuracy in all regulatory filings under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical skills enabling you to research/interpret intricate regulations then apply them effectively within diverse business contexts.
  • Outstanding attention to detail combined with superior organisational abilities allowing you to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills—capable of translating complex financial information into clear guidance for non-financial stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience using ERP systems/financial planning software is highly desirable.
  • Ability to influence outcomes through collaborative teamwork—building positive relationships internally/externally—and contributing constructively towards shared objectives.
